Dress code: Given the cultural and religious significance of the sites, especially the mosque, it is important to dress modestly.
For the mosque: Women must cover their hair, shoulders and knees. It is essential to wear a headscarf, which can often be obtained or rented at the entrance. Men must wear long trousers and a shirt that covers their shoulders. Both men and women must remove their shoes before entering the carpeted prayer areas.
What to bring:
- Sunscreen, hat and sunglasses to protect yourself from the intense sun.
- A bottle of water to stay hydrated. Many tours provide bottled water.
- Some cash for tips (baksheesh) and souvenirs.
- Your passport or a copy of your identity card.
- Some sites may have additional fees to enter certain tombs or pyramid chambers, so be prepared for these extra costs if you decide to go inside.
